Naughty, Naughty

This is the face of a Very Bad Dog

She knows it

And she knows I know it

And, quite frankly, she doesn't care

What you are looking at, dear internet people, is the face of a serial bread thief.

No pun intended, but, come on...bread...serial...cereal...haha

A few months back, very out of the blue, my good little dog who wants nothing more out of life than to just not be in trouble, started counter surfing. It's all very weird and a long story, but the result is that Kate is crated when no one is home. Another very weird and long story has to do with a room mate who is anti-crating and me being a bad dog-mom. Readers Digest Version: I left her out of her crate for a test run. She knocked over the gate to downstairs and helped herself to some Hawaiian bread on the counter.

I'll fax you $20 if you can guess who'll be in her crate tomorrow!

Yeah, I'm irritated. Yeah, I'm frustrated. Yeah, I talk about Kate behind her back.

But she gets to do her thang, bread belly and all...

Maybe she's trying to talk me into an Atkins Diet.

Bella 6.0

Happy Birthday, Bell!

Baths in 2003
Teen angst in 2004Road tripping in 2005Bird watching in 2006
Chillin' in '07
Noms in 2008"Throw it!" in 2009
You know, Some dogs just have that something extra. There is something in their eyes that is a tad bit more than just 'dog'. Best friend...Heart Dog...Your Once-In-A-Lifetime.
I am lucky enough to have one of those.

Bella, however, is not lucky enough to be owned by someone who buys/bakes their dog a birthday cake. Sorry pup, it'll be kibble tonight, too. Maybe I'll let you eat some squirrel shit at the DP tonight.

Best. Dog. Ever.

I Know, I Know, We *Need* The Rain

And actually, I enjoy being out in the rain when, like today, it's actually a bit warm. Not shorts and a t-shirt warm, but comfortable. What I do hate is the project that is Running The Dogs While It's Raining. The DP is a short jaunt up the street. A dry DP trip goes...

Drive to park...throw ball...drive home

In the rain, though, a simple trip to the DP becomes this ridiculous project...

...the clothing...the umbrella...the boots...the hats...the juggling umbrella/camera/coffee/chuck-it...

And when you get home it's not like you just let the dogs in. Oh no, hose time, Babies. Then towel time. Then pouty cold dog time.

Oh sure, the dogs are hella cute when it's a bit drizzly and their ears are all wet
But it doesn't end there. Oh no, just the beginning that is. That's about the time the dirt starts sticking
All down hill from there

And Kate would like to make a small request. Could the future rain please come without thunder? Kthx.

Enought With The Rain, Already!

It has been non-stop all weekend. Steady, non-stop rain. Not even waxing and waning, just constant. Like, close to biblical. Like, close to start collecting 2 of everything. Got the 2 dogs. They are, of course, both female, but this is the Bay Area, so I assume we'll be let on the boat.
:-)
SO, we went to the DP yesterday in the constant down pour. Sans camera, of course. I ended up babying 2 very wet, very cold dogs last night. Something about running in the rain makes one extra tired.

We had some left-over tired this morning, too. In the unusual situation of Mom's Home On A Monday, I wasn't even pestered. They felt like staying in and having soup, too. That is until I touch the camera bag. That's when Kate becomes Most Annoying Dog. I try to tell her to chill, tell her that camera does not mean Big Dog Fun. You know, maybe I'm taking the camera outside without them...

You so crazy with those dog-free crazy thoughts...where's my leash?

I hate to admit it, but she's right.

Off to the DP we go. Not too many people there. We saw their little friend Nicky. I use the term friend loosely. Kate normally likes little dogs, particularly nice, polite little dogs like Nicky. But, we were the only ones on the little dog side and Mr. Nick was feeling extra frisky. The look on Kate's face here kills me. She is trying so hard to not be an ass. Haha!

Bella didn't try as hard

Then the rain picked up a bit and just about everyone left. This is normally our favorite time, but today this lady walking past stopped to tell us that a Mountain Lion had been spotted in the park, it may be injured, and perhaps we wouldn't want to walk our dogs out back today.

Um, yeah, perhaps not.

Perhaps never again.

So, the chances of there being an actual Mt. Lion in this park is very slim. There was one spotted in 2005, so there is a chance, but again, very slim one. I really wanted to go look for it. Then again, do I really need to go looking for a possibly-injured Mt. Lion? Not really. Parks Dept is closed for the holiday, so I called the cops to let them know what I was told. It really does sound silly when you say it out loud...to a cop...but the lady saw *something* and seeing as this park is frequented by folks with dogs and/or small children I figured someone who is armed should go have a look-see. I am probably on the SJPD crazy person list myself, but what are you going to do?

Pack it up and go to our Lion-free home, that's what!

Dogs, Sheep, Rain

Not my dogs, however.

We went to watch the real dogs at the Zamora SDT yesterday. The weather was a steady 2 minute rotation of sun, clouds, rain. The constantly shifting clouds coupled with different controls on the new cam led to a lot of effed up exposures, but what ev', you get the drift...

This Is San Jose, Right?

Then where's my nice California weather? Look what we got today? Frickin' hail. Hail!At least I had my new cam delivered to work so I was able to catch the weirdness.

New cam! Woot!
Same speed, little smoother.
I still have the same timing issues, only now with more pixels!

I'm not sure what the chip difference is, but it makes Bella look so Brown. And Kate soooo white!I know there's the whole in-camera touch up business, but I had no idea it would actually wash my dogs!
There are, however, some things that no technology can fix.

Cross your fingers that we get a little break in the rain this weekend!
