It's Crack For Dogs

Had a delightful, albeit short, morning down in Soquel. Once a month they have lure coursing fun runs.

Have you done this? No?! You need to. ASAP.
Holy crap the dogs love it!

We have only tried our hand at this sort of thing once before. We did the Course-A- Lure thingy at Cynosport a few years back. Apparently, Bella’s memory is intact, ‘cause she was all over this like flies on shit.

We do have an all-breed racing club in Nor Cal now, but all of their events so far have coincided with agility weekends. I guess the coursing folk are not CPE-ers.

So many smiling dogs!

I didn’t get a chance to photograph my two. We had a bit of a rain delay wherein the rain is actually sprinklers on the field. Whoops. Ever try to find maintenance guy on Sunday morning at a high school? Yeah, good luck with that.

We will definitely go back next month. Hopefully no more sprinklers and perhaps a bit more sun!

  1. We haven't tried lure coursing but I'd love to try it if we ever find it at an event near us. The dogs always look like they're having a blast!

  2. That looks like so much fun. I'll have to find something like this for Marley. Can you possibly provide more info on the Nor Cal group?

    Thanks

  3. We used to do lure coursing when I taught at dog camp and OMG it was James' most FAVORITE sport ever! He LOVED chasing "the bunny!" I can still see him in my mind's eye full extended gallop racing down the field. Such joy! Thanks for the trip down memory lane :-)

  5. It looks like so much fun. Lily was so petrified we couldn't go anymore. She is the fastest runner too. Oh well

  6. OMD - where do we sign up?! Mom's seen lure coursing before, but doesn't think we are, um, er, disciplined enough for this. Hmmm, we think maybe it's Mom who's not disciplined :) Looks like everyone's having so much fun!

  7. Some of those dogs look like they think they've died and gone to heaven. Lure coursing is a great sport for particularly energetic breeds who can't be satisfied by the 20 minute walk around the block that most owners try to dish out. So many JRT owners take their dogs for little tiny walks and then wonder why they can't stop destroying stuff...
